I'm spending all my time running from point A to B and back trying to defend against waves and waves of enemies including heroes. When I came back a few levels later ( did the elves quest, very easy) I had a few unit upgrades and those units could hold their own, making the force needed to hold my territory & attack the bases MUCH easier. So I finally completed the Elves and Humans, left FoBG for last as it made me quit playing last time. So unless you had a good 2 or 3 to one advantage I always lost. One on one with the same unit type I would Always lose, and the AI unit would have at least 1/2 health left. I can't imagine building Yria as a ranged DPS, the missions would be so much harder and more annoying. The orcs only fielded goblins and their own heroes, but goblins are very weak and even a huge amount of them can't take down a small band of our fighters.

Arsonists in Legacy were quite bad and didn't have the range of the crossbowmen, but they compensated with coolness factor. The mission itself is muuuuuch easier and that's due to crossbowmen imo. The tough orc boss in Farlonsheim (Kar'Goth?) goes out of the main base with his troops and isn't as annoying to kill this time around.
